As a Key Account Manager - Ingredients, you will be entrusted with managing and nurturing client relationships by executing sales strategies that drive growth and maximize revenue and sales margin within your customer base as well as supporting other customers within the ingredients channel.
Your role will be instrumental in driving customer satisfaction, fostering long-term partnerships, and identifying opportunities for account growth and expansion / optimization.
You will work closely with the National Director Ingredient Sales to develop and implement strategies that solidify our position as a leading provider of dairy products to both the domestic and export market.
You may also be called upon to find new customers that help to drive optimal product mix within our sales portfolio.
This is a hybrid work arrangement with 2 days a week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts(s), ensuring exceptional service delivery, and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships.
- Develop a strong understanding of the Canadian dairy ingredients landscape; Foster relationships within key organizations to leverage for business opportunities as they may arise.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of each client's business objectives, challenges, and requirements, and proactively offer tailored solutions to meet their evolving needs.
- Support the monthly / annual pricing update process as required.
- Collaborate with the sales team to contribute to the development and execution of strategic account plans, focusing on achieving revenue targets and overall business objectives.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key clients to assess performance, discuss opportunities for growth, and ensure alignment with their business goals.
- Work closely with internal departments as necessary to ensure effective execution of customer forecasts, program accruals, promotional activity, quality control and quality assurance concerns.
- Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer feedback to identify potential growth opportunities and anticipate challenges in the market.
- Prepare detailed account performance reports, highlighting key metrics, opportunities, and challenges.
- Lead contract negotiations, renewals, and discussions on terms and pricing, ensuring mutual benefits for both our company and our customers.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, food science, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in an account management role, preferably in the dairy or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing accounts and delivering exceptional results in terms of client retention and revenue growth.
- Previous food science or technical sales experience considered an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed business decisions.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive account plans aligned with organizational objectives.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and the ability to handle complex contract discussions and agreements.
- Knowledge of cpg / milk market trends (Canadian & international) , commodity pricing (global dairy) a definite asset.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
