Job OverviewWe are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers/HCA to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. This role involves supporting seniors and individuals with disabilities, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, dementia care, medication administration, and caregiving responsibilities. Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document accordingly
- Support with meal preparation and feeding as needed
- Perform light cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment
- Monitor health status and report any changes or concerns to supervisors or healthcare professionals
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including toileting and transfers
- Support clients with mobility challenges or disabilities, ensuring safety at all times
- Follow care plans accurately and adapt support based on individual requirements
Requirements
- Experience in assisted living, nursing home care, or home care environments preferred
- Knowledge of senior care, dementia care, medication administration, and working with people with disabilities
- Compassionate attitude with excellent caregiving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills for interacting effectively with clients, families, and healthcare staff
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed; some positions may require availability during evenings or weekends
- Valid background check clearance; relevant certifications such as CPR/First Aid are a plus
- Help with light housekeeping - for example, do laundry, wash dishes and make beds.
- Effectively communicates to the RN/RPN, in a timely, objective manner without interpretation, the following but not limited to: Patient information specific to assigned activities.
