This will enable its 7 member hospitals across 14 sites to deliver high quality and safe patient care using the shared Epic Clinical Information System (“CIS”) to over 1.5 million patients residing in both rural and urban communities located in the Central East region of Ontario.Position Overview : Enhance Ontario is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Software Developer to join our team in building digital tools that improve administrative workflows and operational efficiency in a dynamic healthcare setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying web applications and integration solutions using industry-standard tools and frameworks. This role is a part of the Interfaces and Development team, focusing on creating seamless digital experiences that simplify organizational processes and improve patient experiences. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills, experience with healthcare data standards, and Epic certification in relevant applications to ensure robust and compliant integrations.Responsibilities :
- Application Development : Design and build secure, user-friendly web applications tailored to clinical and administrative needs.
- System Integration : Develop and maintain integration solutions between Epic and third-party platforms using HL7, FHIR, and RESTful APIs.
- Collaboration : Work closely with business analysts, project managers, clinical informatics, and Epic application teams to gather requirements and deliver high-impact solutions.
- Maintenance & Support : Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement updates or patches as required.
- Testing & Quality Assurance : Create test plans and participate in peer reviews to ensure application quality and reliability.
- Documentation : Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation for developed applications and interfaces.
- Security & Compliance : Ensure that all solutions comply with privacy, security, and regulatory standards (e.g., PHIPA).
- Knowledge Sharing : Provide training or guidance to team members and stakeholders as needed to support solution adoption and sustainability.Requirements :
- Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience : 3+ years of software development experience, ideally in healthcare or a similarly regulated environment.
- Technical Skills :
- Proficient in web development technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, React / Vue, and backend frameworks (e.g., Node.js, .NET, or Django).
- Experience with database development using SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with data exchange standards including HL7, FHIR, REST, SOAP.
- Experience with development tools such as Git, Jenkins, Jira, and Visual Studio Code.
- Problem-Solving : Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex integration and development issues.
- Communication : Effective communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users and stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills : Capable of managing multiple development tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
