The Site Manager is responsible for working daily from the site trailer. Optimizing the workload of all the team members and adjusting accordingly.

Role and General Responsibilities
Engineering
- Have a complete understanding of MTC’s scope of work, schedule and budget
- Have a complete understanding of shop drawings prior to work starting
- Have a complete understanding of project specifications and tolerances
- Review and approve work methods for work being carried out.
Have a complete understanding of ITPs and ensure work is being performed in accordance
Ensure that technical issues are raised to Technical Manager within a reasonable time for RFIs issuance.
Quality
Perform handover inspections / walks (handover of grade / slab) before work begins and raise issues
Manage interface between Quality, design and construction to ensure concrete pours occur on schedule and without issues
WEEKLY review of deficiency list and NCRs with superintendents and schedule remedial works as required
Reporting
Chair daily Plan of the Day meeting to establish daily plan and keep resources working as per our plan
Issue weekly performance report to Cost Control
Co-chair weekly coordination meeting with project team to discuss current status of work and future planning
Review on current schedule progress (ahead or behind)
Review on current performance (MHs earned vs spent)
Review on % complete
Review actuals vs planned (performance indicators) and mitigate delays / issues as needed
Keep trackwork dashboard updated on a weekly basis and submit progress to cost control and management
Review resource (labor and equipment) costs weekly and work with superintendent to ensure that any unnecessary costs are removed from the job.
Schedule
- Keep 3WLA updated WEEKLY and review before issuance each week.
- Continuously optimize schedule based on progress and availability of crews
Procurement
- Identify when services, materials or subcontracts are required for the Work and raise PRs as required. Follow-up with all departments (warehouse, cost control and procurement) for issuance of POs
- Monitor % complete of all contracts and ensure change orders are issued before POs are exhausted
Resolving problems and implementing improvements in construction processes.
Maintaining communication between project managers, site staff, and clients.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
University degree in civil engineering or Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma.
P3 Project experience (Design-Build etc.) is an asset.
7-10 years of proven experience as a Construction within the Heavy Civil market.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to make timely and effective decisions.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.
Strong planning and organizational skills
