What We’ll Accomplish Together

The Occupational Health Nurse works within the Occupational Health Department (OHD) Team to provide :

  • Disability case management for work and non-work related illnesses and injuries
  • Preventative Occupational Health Services such as health assessments, medical monitoring, Fitness-for-work (FFW) assessments
  • Return to work (RTW) coordination and management
  • Health surveillance program elements (, audiometry, spirometry, vision, ECG)
  • Support the development & implementation of health and wellbeing program elements

What You’ll Do

  • Provide a broad range of occupational health care services for the prevention of work-related and non-work related disease, illnesses and injuries, including pre-employment and periodic medicals, FFW assessments
  • Spirometry, audiometry, ECG, vision screening, ear fit testing
  • Review fit for duty or restriction concerns by consulting and interpreting medical information and advising on strategies to resolve discrepancies
  • Manage absences and return to work cases for work and non-work related injuries and illnesses
  • Liaise with doctors and other internal and external health care professionals on employee health issues and ability to work
  • Facilitate and participate meetings including weekly case reviews, health team meetings etc.
  • RN or LPN will work under the OHD TELUS Health Team Manager and consult with on-site health & safety professionals

Qualifications

What You Bring :

  • RN or LPN, licensed, or eligible for registration in British Columbia
  • Certified Audiometric Technician from an approved agency recognized in BC or eligible to complete the training
  • Certified Spirometry Technician or eligible to complete the training
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with focus on efficiency and thoroughness
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Electronic medical record documentation and filing, task prioritization
  • LPNs must be trained and be competent to complete ECG’s in line with Provincial Scope of Practice

Additional Skills / attributes :

  • Certification of Advanced First Aid (OFA3) an asset
  • Experience in Disability Case Management preferred
  • Experience in use of Cority electronic medical records an asset
