Senior Mainframe Developer

Position Description :

We are Canada's largest independent information technology services firm, and after 45+ years, we're still growing! Join Canada's largest IT Company as a Senior Mainframe Developer, in our Financial Services Sector in Toronto.

Location - Downtown Toronto (Hybrid - 4 days office and 1 day remote)

As a Senior Developer, you will be working in a development and support capacity on our core mainframe cards and transactions system.

The core application is a large, sophisticated mainframe-based system which connects RBC clients to their banking products and services. This 24 / 7 application supports critical delivery channels such as Online Banking, POS, ATM and others.

Your future duties and responsibilities :

• Design, develop, test, deploy, support and evolve software to deliver banking services.
• Lead conversion, attestation and audit initiatives
• Manage individual priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
• Assess and analyze business and technical requirements in order to provide estimates and establish plans and timelines
• Create, update and contribute to critical documentation relevant to the projects
• Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members and various IT partners
• Available for after-hours production support when needed (rare)

Required qualifications to be successful in this role :

Must-have

Completion of a post-secondary education

Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal)

Strong background in software development especially mainframe

Expertise in COBOL, JCL, IMS (DB / Online / Batch), DB2, MQSeries, Git / Endevor and Zeke

Nice-to-have

Understanding / usage of z / OS Connect, IDz, zUnit and test automation

Experience with CI / CD mainframe pipeline

Familiarity with Java Cloud development
