The Design Intern will generate new product ideas, create new designs and update existing products to contribute to a competitive, innovative collection of TCH products.
What you’ll do during this internship …
- Develop a product from initiation to production with supervision.
- Prepare parts, assemblies and drawings in SolidWorks (CAD software) for submission for customers, vendors and promotional materials
- Develop product specifications accurately and on time, including product drawings, 3D data for fabrication
- Assist in developing technical documents such as customer released drawings
- Research to identify new product ideas, designs, materials and production techniques
- Create prototypes and models as required for approval/customer presentation
- Perform other job duties and projects including graphic design, layout and set-up of trade show displays as assigned
Requirements
What you'll bring for this internship...
- Enrollment in a post-secondary degree/diploma program in design (industrial or product)
- Strong knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD style program and working knowledge of graphic design programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign is required
- A good understanding of standards, specifications, and materials is required
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously with high attention to detail
- Works independently and collaboratively as part of a team within strict deadlines
- Polished, professional presentation with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organization skills and a strong sense of urgency with a customer service mindset
- Indisputable integrity as well as credibility and demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others
- Strong work ethic with proven ability to adapt to changing priorities with a positive attitude
- Mature analytical and evidence-based decision-making style
- Entrepreneurial spirit with preferred expertise in electrical components and industrial hardware
