POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations in Montréal, you will manage the accounting and trust operations for the Montréal office.
You will liaise between the Billing, Accounts receivable and Payroll teams in the Centers of Excellence to ensure accurate accounting and provide outstanding customer service both internally and externally.
Additionally, you will supervise the trust account specialist. Although the position is based in Montréal, you will support all our offices across Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and analyze monthly financial results, comparing them with historical data and budget targets.
- Prepare reconciliations and account analysis for all relevant balance sheet accounts.
- Coordinate month-end closing activities, including journal entries.
- Assist the Director of Finance & Operations, Montréal in the annual budgeting process for the Montréal office.
- Account for expenses incurred by Dentons professionals on their corporate credit cards and follow up as necessary to ensure timely submission of accounts.
- Supervise the daily operations of trust accounts.
- Participate in the preparation of bank reconciliations.
- Prepare tax reports for the various Dentons entities.
- Support the Treasurer in preparing daily bank reports and EFT payments.
- Produce and analyze various accounting reports relating to the firm and follow up as needed.
- Maintain the filing system for electronic and paper files in the accounting department.
- Assist with billing and participate in other special projects.
- Perform any other related tasks as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting (CPA designation is an asset).
- Ability to understand, implement and administer financial information and control systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a similar position (preferably in a professional services firm).
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Discretion and respect for confidentiality.
- Quick learner of new software.
- Organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Fluency in written and spoken French and English.
