About the Position
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a flour production plant in Montreal during shifts.
They will be responsible for supervising approximately 10 unionized employees. They will be responsible for production efficiency, quality, employee management, and health & safety.
This position reports to the plant manager. We are looking for a humble and diplomatic leader who can rally their experienced team and take a hands-on approach to get the job done.
Duties and Responsibilities
Health & Safety :
Responsible for the safe work environment for our employees, contractors and visitors
Demonstrate a personal commitment to health and safety
Develop the team's commitment to safety, and identify the tools needed for a safe work environment
Follow ADM's health and safety standards and report unsafe behaviors or conditions
Ensure that all employees at all levels take responsibility and follow the rules
Quality & Sanitation :
Responsible for maintaining an environment that assures customers of a healthy and safe product delivered to their specifications, by ensuring that all quality assurance and food safety programs are applied
Correcting quality issues and ensuring the implementation of food safety programs
Proactively address quality issues
Manage departments to meet customer expectations
Ensure HACCP documentation requirements
Compliance with environmental programs :
Ensure that all environmental protection programs are followed to ensure a safe work environment and to maintain ADM's reputation as a good corporate citizen
Proactive management of environmental aspects
Profitability and production efficiency :
Responsible for managing plant operations, including but not limited to :
Reduced operating costs and expenses
Regular review of production costs for all departments
Reducing or eliminating barriers to production
Ensuring loss reduction and elimination
Asset Management & Preservation
Quality of the work environment :
Supporting a workplace that values and promotes the well-being of every employee
Develop a rewarding work environment for all employees
Comply with laws and regulations, apply the collective agreement
Employee Development :
Create a work environment focused on employee knowledge, skills and ability
Sponsor and lead the orientation, familiarization and training of new employees
Supporting Orientation and Training Programs
Communication & Teamwork :
Communicate frequently with other members of the supervisory team
Foster positive working relationships between departments
Create an environment where information and ideas flow freely between all hierarchical levels
Required Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge of industrial equipment and processes
Recognized leadership and autonomy
Strong communication and coaching skills
Good resistance to the stress of a manufacturing environment
Dynamism, flexibility and organization
Good knowledge of the Office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook
Must have a history of safe workplace behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve health and safety policies and procedures (any health and safety leadership experience will be considered an asset)
Education or Work Experience
Experience in managing people in a unionized environment (asset)
Experience in Food Manufacturing
High School Diploma
