Location : Various locations across British Columbia

As a Permit Technician / Permit Clerk, you will play a key role in processing and managing building permits and related applications.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing permit applications, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing support to applicants throughout the permitting process.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Process and review building permit applications, ensuring they meet local codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards.
  • Issue permits and manage the permit tracking system, including entering data and maintaining accurate records.
  • Provide assistance and information to the public, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding permit requirements and procedures.
  • Review construction plans and documents for completeness and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate with various departments and agencies to facilitate the permit approval process.
  • Handle permit fees, including calculating and processing payments.
  • Prepare and maintain reports and documentation related to permit applications and approvals.
  • Stay informed about changes in building codes, regulations, and permitting procedures to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.

Requirements

  • Relevant certification or diploma in Administrative Support, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a permit technician, permit clerk, or in a similar administrative role within a regulatory or construction environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for managing permit applications and records.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with applicants, contractors, and municipal officials.
  • Proficiency in using office software and permit management systems.
  • Ability to stay current with changes in building codes, regulations, and permit processes
