Manager, Finance Operations (12 Month Contract)

Position Summary :

The Manager of Finance Operations will be supporting the Director of Finance & Controller in Finance team objectives. The Manager of Finance Operations is responsible for accounting and day-to-day finance operations of the Bank.

This includes maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, ensuring accuracy of transaction level accounting, and oversight of daily finance processes.

Major Duties & Responsibilities :

• Oversee the corporate AP function, including vendor payables, broker commission payables, mortgage-servicing payables including cash management activities (releasing EFTs and wires)
• Oversee all aspects of weekly and month-end deposit reconciliation process, including posting of interest accruals, reconciliation of deposit subledger to general ledger, payment of broker commissions.
• Oversee day-to-day cash management processes including daily bank reconciliations, daily file transmissions, mortgage, and deposit wires.
• Maintain integrity and accuracy of payment processes including accounts payable, and broker commissions.
• Maintain and update policies for accounting processes relating to payments.
• Reconciles monthly opex variance analysis.
• Assists with quarterly / annual external audit.
• Ensure that accounting and recording of operation expenses is aligned to budgets and partner with FP&A in the forecasting and budgeting processes related to operational expenses.
• Execute process changes to drive efficiencies through process review, automation, application of effective technology solutions and data management
• Provide managerial direction to Finance team on operational matters that require escalation

Qualifications & Experience :

Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications :

The position requires a university degree

Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job :

• With a university degree and accreditation, the position requires at least 3 years of progressive experience in a Finance operational role.
• Leadership experience overseeing a team of accountants
• The position requires experience in financial accounting and reporting under IFRS
