Facility Manager
We are currently looking for Facility Manager to join our team of committed professionals. This Full-time Contract position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s John Island Camp location near Spanish, ON.
Reporting to the Director of John Island Camp, the Facility Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the camp’s cleaning to ensure all facilities remain safe, functional, clean, and suitable for program delivery. This role also manages building and facility maintenance operations, including the upkeep and safe operation of camp vehicles and watercraft.

LOCATION : YMCA John Island
RATE OF PAY : $19.00-$22.00 / Hourly
Major Responsibilities
Conduct daily site inspections and complete basic maintenance of camp buildings, grounds, and equipment
Maintain and monitor camp infrastructure systems, including water systems, generators, composting systems, and fire protection equipment
Supervise, train, and schedule the Facilities staff team, and coordinate maintenance rotations for Camp Counsellors
Schedule and oversee cleaning and maintenance of washrooms, showers, dining hall, maintenance shop, and waste removal
Coordinate the ordering, transportation, and storage of diesel, propane, gasoline, and facility supplies from the mainland to the island
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, OCA standards, and CQRP requirements related to facility and site operations
Adhere to YMCA of Northeastern Ontario and John Island Camp policies, procedures, and guidelines
Other duties as assigned by the Association
Qualifications
College diploma in a skilled trade is an asset
Experience with mechanical repairs, boat operation, and basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work
Supervisory experience within cleaning and maintenance operations
Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification
Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Licence
Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification with a marine endorsement is an asset
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Working knowledge of diesel generators, watercraft, small engine operations, and water treatment systems
Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills
Solid understanding of applicable health and safety standards and regulations
Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
CAMP EQUITABLE EMPLOYMENT FUND
The Camp Equitable Employment Fund (CEEF) is a grant created to reduce barriers to camp employment for individuals who have been historically marginalized and underrepresented in the camping industry.
The fund is open to Canadians, ages 18 to 25, who are a part of a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) communities. Ideal candidates will have previous experience, or a demonstrated interest, in working with youth. Camp-specific experience is not required.
Successful applicants will receive financial assistance to offset the personal expenses of working in the outdoor industry. This could include : certification courses, personal gear, equipment and travel costs.
