Robert Half is offering a permanent position for a skilled Project Accountant to join their client's dynamic, rapidly-growing team within the Construction/Residential/Commercial industry. As a Project Accountant, you will be in charge of preparing HST, journal entries, assist with monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, project costs, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, various aspects of internal reporting will be under your responsibility. You will lend your skills in assisting the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position plays an intricate part in producing Project Cost analysis, Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. What you get to do every day

• Prepare and enter the monthly HST entries
• Track the HST/ITC notices of assessment and match the receipt against the filing
• Assist with preparation of responses for CRA reviews of HST filings
• Assist with intercompany account reconciliations, analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting
• Assist with preparation of project updates for management and external stakeholders
• Assist with bank reconciliation preparation
• Track deposits on residential sales
• Assist with the closing statement of adjustments (SOA)
• Assist with tracking the closing of units
• Inputting budget changes for residential projects into the accounting system
• Assist the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
• Assist with requests for further information from financial reporting division
• Assist with reviewing or auditing project costs
• Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

Job Requirements:

- Completion of Post-secondary education specializing in accounting and finance, BA/BBA/BCom or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

- Actively enrolled in the CPA PEP level or completion of program is required

- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

- Good understanding of Monthly Financial Reporting

- Command of Month-end Close Activities

- Proven knowledge of Commercial Construction Projects

- Proficiency in Corporate Income Tax

- Well-founded grasp of Construction Projects

- Intercompany Accounting experience

- Previous experience working with Project Cost

- HST experience desired

- Account reconciliation experience

- Quality experience with Income Statements

- Practical knowledge of bank reconciliations

- Earlier work involving Account Adjustments

- General familiarity with construction project accounting

- Wide ranging experience with Monthly Financial Statements

- Skills in Microsoft Excel

- 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

- Skilled with ERP systems

- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

- Vow to meet business deadlines

- Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills

- Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

- High attention to detail
