Primary Job Responsibilities
- Designing robust and scalable data architectures that leverage the capabilities of Azure and AWS services. This includes architecting data lakes, data warehouses, data pipelines, and streaming solutions.
- Deep understanding of both Azure and AWS platforms, including their respective services for storage (Azure Blob Storage, AWS S3), compute (Azure VMs, AWS EC2), databases (Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS), and big data processing (Azure Databricks, AWS EMR)
- Integrating data from various sources such as databases, applications, and third-party APIs into the cloud environment.
This may involve using tools like Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or custom ETL processes
- Ensuring that data solutions comply with industry standards and regulations such as GDPR. Implementing security best practices, encryption, and access controls on Azure and AWS resources
- Optimizing data pipelines, queries, and data storage for performance and cost-efficiency. Monitoring and tuning the performance of data solutions to meet SLAs and business requirements.
- Implementing strategies for disaster recovery, backup, and high availability to ensure data resilience and business continuity on both Azure and AWS platforms.
- Documenting architecture designs, configurations, and best practices for data solutions on Azure and AWS. Providing guidance and recommendations for implementing data solutions according to industry standards and best practices.
- Data Cataloging and Metadata Management : Implement data cataloging and metadata management practices to ensure data assets are properly documented and easily discoverable.
- Performance Optimization : Optimizing data pipelines, queries, and analytics performance for MicroStrategy dashboards and reports.
Monitoring and tuning the performance of cloud-hosted data solutions to meet performance requirements and user expectations.
Data Security and Compliance : Ensuring that data solutions on Azure and AWS comply with security standards and regulations.
Implementing encryption, access controls, and auditing mechanisms to protect sensitive data and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Cloud Cost Management : Optimize data storage and data processing costs by implementing cost-effective solutions and monitoring resource usage.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity : Implement data backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data availability and business continuity.
- Database Design and Modeling : Design and develop the logical and physical data models for SQL Server databases, ensuring data integrity, normalization, and optimal performance.
- Collaboration and Communication : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and business analysts, BI, to understand their data integration needs and provide data solutions accordingly.
