We currently have a full-time opportunity for an Analyst Location Research to provide research on population growth, shifting demographics, and competitive insights to support our real estate investment recommendations.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing :

Market Studies

Provide market level / store specific research on population growth, shifting demographics (familiarity with Statistics Canada Census data and boundary levels), and competitive insights to support our real estate investment recommendations

Act as a trusted partner in providing research and analytics to support our market study and network strategy work

Macro & Micro Level Grocery Presentations

Collaborate in the production of Grocery strategy market presentations which enable and direct the business on the strategic plan of our store network across the country. Right banner, at the right time, at the right location

Data Administration

Maintain an accurate and up to date database of the existing store network of grocery stores

Conduct field work and desk-based research to gather competitive intelligence on store network activity across the country

Contribute to reporting on metrics such as square footage / store count changes within specific regions of the country

Develop sound working relationships within the Location Research group

Work collaboratively with the GIS team to jointly complete projects

Tracking of impacts from competition

Customer Origin Trade Area Reports

Produce accurate and timely customer origin reports using ArcMap to meet quarterly targets (working knowledge of GIS – ArcMap)

Ad-Hoc Requests

Respond to basic ad-hoc reporting and data requests in a timely manner

What you have to offer :

• Post-secondary degree in Urban Studies, Geography, Urban Planning or similar
• Up to 2 years location planning or related experience
• Basic knowledge of GIS mapping software (ArcMap)
• Familiarity with Statistics Canada, Environics data and spatial data.
• Good base of computer skills / knowledge : Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
• Familiarity with Tableau and Power BI tools
• Have a valid Ontario Driver's License
• Willingness to travel 10-20%
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Good time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
• Good problem solving and analytical skills
• Attention to detail
