Our Canadian client in one of the leading manufacturers of heavy metal part products in North America. The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.
This role will collaborate with all levels of the organization and is critical to successfully maintaining and encouraging an overall culture of safety in the workplace.
The ideal candidate has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and enjoys a fast paced work environment.
The Role :
- Assist in performing regulatory H&S compliance audits and implementing follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations
- Assist in scheduling and perform work site audits and inspections, investigate incidents when required
- Promote among employees’ adherence to our H&S policies, programs and industry best management practices
- Provide assistance on H&S-related compliance projects, safety management system development and implementation, safety oversight
- Develop health and safety procedures, plans, and reports
- Keep H&S incidents and first aid assistance records up to date
- Supervise the use of the first aid office which includes but is not limited to, order first aid office
supplies / tools as needed and report any tool / machine malfunction or damage.
- Maintain, develop or update emergency response plans or procedures.
- Assist in inspecting specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety
equipment, or first-aid supplies.
- Assist in collecting samples of hazardous materials or arrange for sample collection and testing for environmental hazards.
- Assist in maintaining inventories of hazardous materials or hazardous wastes, using waste tracking systems to ensure that materials are handled properly.
- Assist in conducting audits at hazardous waste sites or industrial sites or participate in hazardous
waste site investigations.
- Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
- Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Assist in developing or maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys.
- Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, or other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance
- Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
- Assist in developing, implement and supervise H&S forms for monthly inspections and weekly audits
- Investigate health-related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public
health legislation and regulations
Collaborate with engineers or supervisors to institute control measures for hazardous or potentially
hazardous conditions or equipment.

- Supervise JHSC’s practices law compliance, as well as developing and performing activity related with the JHSC practices (scheduling monthly meetings and elections
The Ideal Candidate :
- Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
- 2+ years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow health and safety rules and procedures
- Good oral and written English and communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow appropriate departmental work instructions
- Ability to retain information and communicate effectively both written and verbal
- Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize jobs, and be highly organized
- Strong ability of using a variety of hand tools
