We have an exciting Senior Health & Safety Manager opportunity working at a large international beverage company in the GTA. The position is a contract term, anticipated to run to approximately February 2025 for 20 to 30 hours per week. You will assist the Safety Manager, Safety Coordinator, and Safety Technicians to assist and support in the implementation of safety program initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities :
You will be responsible for deploying, implementing, and leading the Health and Safety agenda for the manufacturing facility by working collaboratively with the Management team with integration of prevention, workers compensation and regulatory compliance into everyday work life. You will engage leaders and employees of the facility in a way that improves plant performance and employee awareness in reducing the risk of safety incidents and providing tools and systems that deliver a high level of health and safety performance. In this role you will be required to provide collaborative, proactive, and creative problem-solving ability to develop best-in-class Health and Safety programs for the improvement of the overall Health and Safety strategy.
Working under the leadership and with the support of the Manager, Environmental Health & Safety, successful candidates will be responsible for :
- A committed focus in leading a team of 4 dedicated colleagues. Providing support to their growth and development through ongoing communication, mentoring, and coaching.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of health and safety program initiatives, policies and procedures.
- Support incident investigations
- Ensures compliance in accordance with legislative directives
- Partner with the Company’s corporate Health and Safety team in the implementation of identified prioritized health and safety initiatives
- Establish and maintain procedures ensuring the appropriate sourcing of safety related tools, equipment and supplies
- Provide advisory and consultative services to brewery management and personnel
- Conduct analysis of hazards, and safety statistics. Recommending corrective measures and plan modifications as required and in support of the Company’s Safety Programs’ Goals and Objectives.
- Responsible for the overall implementation and success of the health and safety management program and its affiliated elements
- Will conduct and complete capital project reports related to health and safety and develop recommendations that meet or exceed local regulatory compliances and MillerCoors standards
- Responsible for monitoring and advising management of any changes in legislative compliances. Coordinating all safety compliance requirements as needed.
- Providing consultative support to Supervisors and Management on appropriate safety culture processes
- Responsible for the overall performance, talent management, and career development of the Health & Safety team. Creating a culture of employee engagement.
Requirements and Experience :

You value and respect differences and believe diversity with inclusion is the key to collaboration and a winning team culture.University degree or college diploma in a relevant field (e.g. occupational health & safety, environmental and / or safety engineering, safety management, industrial hygiene, sciences);Certification in areas such as CRSP, CSO, NCSO, GSC-CSC, CSP, CIH, etc.Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in manufacturing leading and improving safety performance and regulatory complianceYou are confident and competent with strong communication and presentation skills.
