AECOM is seeking a senior level Hydrogeologist to join our Ontario Geosciences Team (Hydrogeology Group), based from a GTA office (Markham or Mississauga).

Flexibility is available to work from an office outside of the GTA and for a hybrid in-office / work from home schedule.

This position will support our dynamic group of hard-working professionals within the Environment Business Line. The candidate will be responsible for collaboratively supporting and growing operations of the Hydrogeology Group Practice Area across Ontario.

This position is a full time role and is expected to begin in September 2022.

Responsibilities for this position include :

  • Report directly to the Hydrogeology Operations Manager, and work collaboratively with other members of the Ontario Geosciences (Hydrogeology & Geotechnical) Team, external sub-contractors / consultants, clients, as well as Project Managers and Area Managers within other internal AECOM business lines / geographies;
  • Manage projects and undertake technical work in accordance with contract scope of work and budget, and to company, professional, quality, and legislative standards;
  • Liaise with a spectrum of project stakeholders (Municipalities, Conservation Authorities, MECP, private landowners, etc.);
  • Occasional Site visits (throughout Ontario) to meet with clients, oversee critical project stages, conduct H&S inspections, etc.;
  • Monitoring project performance vs. budgets and developing strategies for corrections;
  • Participate and / or lead internal / external Business Development activities including proposal preparation and budgeting;
  • Identifying opportunities to increase project efficiencies, improve technical methodologies, and add value to client service offerings; and,
  • Operate as a technical leader within the company, contributing to knowledge transfer between staff, communicating team capabilities to other internal AECOM business lines / geographies, and being a general resource / mentor to junior / intermediate staff.
  • Key Performance Indicators : Sales, technical quality, scope / budget compliance, SH&E and, client satisfaction.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Geosciences, Geology, Hydrogeology or, other related fields.
  • 6 years’ experience in an environmental consulting or engineering management company;
  • Valid Ontario driver's license with own transportation and valid insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Geosciences, Geology or Hydrogeology preferred;
  • 10+ years of experience in an environmental consulting, or engineering management company;
  • Currently registered in good standing with PGO (P.Geo.) and / or PEO (P.Eng.);
  • Proficient in MS Office tools;
  • Strong staff coordination and communication skills (both written and oral);
  • Experience with groundwater resources, hydrogeological assessments, MECP PTTW / EASR, construction dewatering, groundwater monitoring, aggregate resources, geochemistry, Environmental Assessments, and / or groundwater modeling and groundwater remediation;
  • Experience using advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to complex problems with minimal oversight;
  • Working consulting experience and knowledge of provincial and federal acts and policies;
  • Established interpersonal and relationship building skills with experience in Business Development and developing / maintaining strong client relationships; and,
  • Experience as an energetic and enthusiastic coach / mentor to junior and intermediate staff.
