We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. This is a remote (1 day a week in Columbia, MD office), full-time permanent position that offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals in the Accounting and Finance industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all accounting operations, including month-end close, GAAP, and FASB. This role requires a high level of expertise, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Job DetailsResponsibilities

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
• Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Coordinate and ensure the timely and accurate month-end and year-end close process.
• Ensure compliance with all internal processes and relevant regulations and ensure all company financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAP and FASB.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
• Manage budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control procedures.
• Identify, investigate, and analyze potential operational improvement. Based on findings, make proposals for operational changes (policy, procedures, processes, etc.).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master’s degree or CPA is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.
• Solid experience with month-end close, GAAP, and FASB.
• Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
• High level of integrity, intense professionalism, and strong work ethic.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced knowledge of accounting software.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage large amounts of data, and manage deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with an ability to think proactively and prioritize work.
