The Director, Clinical Operations reports to an Executive Director and works in a co-leadership, partnership with Medical Director(s) with responsibility for clinical program(s) / service(s) with multiple direct management reports, ensuring clinical continuity and prioritization across the assigned programs and / or services in the respective streams is shared and best utilized for overall success and performance.

The Director provides leadership and direction for the overall management of the assigned programs and / or services including overseeing multiple program / service areas, creating and facilitating an environment of evidence-based care and culturally aware practices.

The Director establishes strategic

direction and develops strategies and operational plans that effectively support the delivery of patient care services. Responsibilities include identifying service and budget priorities, allocating resources, program development, planning of goals and objectives, coordination of service delivery systems, and establishing and monitoring benchmarks and quality indicators.

In addition, the Director supports and promotes patient centered care, patient safety initiatives, staff motivation and support, and best practices to achieve outcomes identified in assigned annual plans.

The Director establishes the operational framework and infrastructure for program delivery and planning and allocates and manages all human and financial resources including anticipating and planning for future changes that will affect service delivery.

The Director collaborates and develops cooperative relationships with strategic partners and interest groups across the province, to facilitate a seamless continuum of care, and to provide leadership in resource and service planning at a provincial tertiary level.

The Director functions independently and utilizes strategic and innovative approaches to the planning and delivery of care.

What you’ll do

  • Oversee the delivery of services working in a co-leadership, partnership with Medical Director(s) to ensure the provision of culturally safe, anti-racist, trauma-informed patient and family centered, evidence based, best practice clinical care as it relates to the assessment and treatment of patients and
  • their families.
  • Develop strategic plans, goals and annual objectives in collaboration with physician partners. Provides leadership and support to staff in developing individual program plans including the development and
  • implementation of proposals for new or expanded programs or redistribution of resources. Ensures plans are consistent with and complement the overall strategic plans.

Develops and deploys mechanisms for monitoring performance and progress in achieving performance. Gather patient information for medical appointments to assist in facilitating an efficient patient flow.

Request, receive and transport patient information to designated clinical area. Prepare documents for clinical team and patient.

  • Ensures continuous improvement and redesign for optimizing resources and contributing to a sustainable healthcare system.
  • Oversee and provide leadership on systems and processes to support the development and management of annual operating and capital budgets, including sponsoring and developing business cases.
  • Oversee and provide leadership on systems and processes to support all aspects of contract tendering, negotiation, approval, implementation and ongoing monitoring.

Allocates scare resources, approving budget recommendations and remedial action.

Work closely with regional, and provincial leaders on ministerial initiatives to ensure alignment of provincial standards and program and / or service mandates.

Coordinates relationships between regional medical and operational teams, and the deployment of resources.

What you bring

Qualifications :

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline such as Nursing, Health Care Administration, or Business Administration, and minimum of ten (10) years recent related experience including experience a senior administrative position within a health care organization.

  • Demonstrate ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment, building and sustaining effective relationship including the ability to interact tactfully and effectively with staff at all organizational levels both internally and externally to PHSA.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to make effective presentations to groups.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations, legislation and collective agreements.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers and applicable software applications.
  • Understanding of various reports including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), In Plain Sight, Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Model and support full team commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism.
  • Demonstrate humility and heart-led leadership.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Job Type : Regular, Full-Time

Salary Range : $128,298 - $184,428 per year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.

Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
