We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer to join the Projects & Power Distribution (PPD) team at Prime, a full-service electrical design, supply, and service firm, specializing in equipment design and commissioning.

Electrical Engineer responsibilities :
Prime’s PPD team is looking for an Electrical Engineer, who understands project management, is energized through solving challenging problems, values strong and lasting relationships with clients and co-workers, and wants to foster their career in a dynamic and growing industry.
Some of your responsibilities would include :
- Electrical design of power distribution equipment (MV / LV), including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC / DC schematics, equipment layouts, and communication systems
- Design protection & control systems for power distribution equipment and control panels, including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC / DC schematics, equipment layouts, and communication systems
- Prepare and submit project documentation
- Organize and participate in design review and project meetings with both internal and external clients
- Specify and select electrical equipment and services, prepare data sheets, prepare RFQs, review quotations, select and interface with vendors, prepare purchase orders
- Understand and coordinate the completion of power system studies including but not limited to : Load flow, Short Circuit, Coordination, Arc Flash, Ground Grid Analysis
- Manage and schedule projects in conjunction with colleagues' and clients' needs and demands
- Create electrical protection relay settings, occasionally required to perform testing
- Aid Controls designers / engineers regarding electrical and protection equipment and other project related interfaces
The successful candidate has :
- Electrical Engineering Degree - PEng
- 5+ years of relevant experience directly related to electrical engineering
- 3+ years of relevant experience directly related to commercial and industrial medium voltage distribution equipment and systems
- Previous experience with industrial equipment manufacturing an asset
- Hands on field experience with electrical power equipment an asset
- Knowledge of power distribution, switchgear, generation, and substations is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of CEC and IEEE standards is considered an asset.
