Position Summary :
The Business Development Manager plays a key role in expanding MAD Engine Global, LLC’s portfolio of licensed brands and supporting the key entertainment licensing relationships for the market of Canada with major studios and strategic licensor partnerships. This position is responsible for two major business development roles :
- identifying, pursuing, and securing new brand partnerships across North America while managing existing license agreements to ensure compliance and mutual growth. The ideal candidate combines strong relationship-building and negotiation skills with a deep understanding of brand licensing, retail trends, and contract management.
- This role will be liaise for the Licensing department to support, maintain and grow partnerships with our Entertainment licensed partners for the market of Canada.
Key Responsibilities :
Brand Acquisition & Partnership Development
Identify and pursue new brand licensing opportunities that align with MAD Engine’s strategic goals and product categories.Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, key brands, and partnership prospects and format in a presentation format to present to key stakeholders in senior leadership.Lead outreach efforts and initiate discussions with potential licensors and brand owners.Develop compelling business proposals and pitch presentations for prospective partners.License Management & Contract Oversight
Negotiate financial and business deal points in best interest of Mad Engine Global LLCOversee all aspects of contract negotiation, renewal, and compliance for existing brand licenses.Collaborate with legal and finance teams to review and execute agreements that protect company interests.Maintain strong relationships with licensing partners to ensure ongoing collaboration and performance.Monitor royalty reports, sales data, and contractual obligations to ensure compliance with license terms.Entertainment Licensing Liaison – Canadian Market
Maintain a strong knowledge of the Canadian retailer, competitive and internal sales landscape to liaise with major and strategic Entertainment License portfolio partners on a regularly scheduled cadence.Inform the Canadian Division of any major updates and maintain regularly scheduled touchpointsIdentify, solicit and negotiate any new deals market specificStrategize and work on new business development with existing and new licensor partners on regular calendar cadenceLiaise with internal Licensing Department to advise on forecasting, contract negotiations and maintaining Licensor Relationships.Maintain Licensing department tools and Canadian specific tools and resources used by the Canadian division reflect latest licensing updatesTroubleshoot any internal issues which affect day-to-day business by liaising with internal resources and escalating internally or externally when necessary.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product Development, Design, Sales, and Merchandising teams to ensure brand strategies are executed effectively across product lines.Provide insights and updates to internal teams regarding new brand initiatives and market opportunities.Troubleshoot any internal issues which affect day-to-day business by liaising with internal resources and escalating internally or externally when necessary.Support internal presentations and updates for leadership on licensing portfolio performance.Strategic & Financial Planning
Assist in developing business forecasts and revenue projections for new and existing brand partnerships.Evaluate the profitability and potential growth of licensed programs and propose recommendations.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field required.5+ years of experience in licensing, brand partnerships, or business development, ideally in apparel, entertainment, or consumer products.Proven experience in contract negotiation and relationship management.Strong understanding of brand positioning and market trends.Must have and maintain an in-depth fashion, media and pop culture knowledge of consumer fashion, social, and lifestyle trendsExcellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with licensing management systems a plus.Work Environment :
This role is based in MAD Engine’s Toronto, Canada office .Requires regular in-office collaboration with cross-functional team, not remote.Occasional travel may be required for meetings, trade shows, or partner visits.About MAD Engine Global, LLC :
