JOB DESCRIPTION
Under technical direction designs, analyzes and models organizational and third party data and provides business insights.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides reporting and analytics services to capitalize on diverse sources of data to improve decision making.
- Follow and implement enterprise data standards, guidelines and best practices.
- Contributes to the evolution of the Data and Analytics team by developing improvements to data availability and quality.
- Performs data modeling for the purpose of quantifying the performance of the business area and evaluating operational changes.
- Interprets data and identifies relevant analyses as well as identify use-cases.
- Monitors trends over time and provides actionable insights that support the active management of the business area.
- Clearly presents findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Adheres to legal guidelines regarding critical and confidential information.
- Executes tasks with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
- Partners with other analytical teams across the organization and / or participate in special projects.
- Builds dashboards and prepares reports for business units.
- Responds to and fulfills adhoc data requests.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Experience in a data analytics role, preferably in insurance industry.
- Knowledge of core functions of an insurance company, general insurance and statistical, financial, and economic concepts, which may include a specialty area of the business.
- Fluent in Excel, SQL, Python, R and Cloud technology. Experience with GCP is a bonus.
- Experience with Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence are an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with ability to effectively interact with senior levels of internal and external leadership.
- Solid analytical and problem solving skills to effectively resolve complex situations and issues while demonstrates attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team, manage time and resources to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage work deliverables / projects effectively.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or related field.
- Typically a minimum of four years of related work experience
