Junior Mechanical Engineer – Piping Systems

Overview

Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering, fabrication, and installation firm specializing in complete process piping systems. They support a wide range of industries, including highly regulated environments such as pharmaceutical and medical facilities, as well as large-scale industrial applications. This Junior Engineer role offers hands-on exposure to all phases of project execution and provides an excellent foundation for long-term career growth within the mechanical and construction engineering sector.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating

Assist with cost estimating and proposal preparation

Collect subcontractor bids and source materials

Documentation

Prepare and release fabrication drawings

Perform material inspections and logging

Compile reports and project documentation packages

Client Interaction

Meet with clients on-site or at company facilities

Assess project requirements and help propose mechanical solutions

Mechanical Design

Use design software to develop solutions that meet client specifications

Produce AutoCAD models of modular piping systems, including piping, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, tanks, and related components

Support design approvals and transition designs into fabrication

3D Modeling & BIM

Contribute to the development of 3D piping system models

Support the implementation of BIM software to enhance fabrication and installation efficiency

Project Coordination

Assist with resource management, cost tracking, and material procurement

Coordinate with fabrication and installation teams

Support manufacturing and construction processes

Qualifications & Skills

Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)

Familiarity with AutoCAD-based design software

Experience with 3D modeling software (AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred)

Examples of academic or professional design work are an asset

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated

Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
