Job description and key responsibilities

The main object and purpose of this position consist in coordinating, supervising and analyzing all of the production operations and maintenance activities in order to respond effectively to customer demand.

All of these activities must respect the action plan, deadlines, operating procedures and safety and health standards while ensuring the coaching and development of the team.

1. Plans daily production activities : Establishes the daily production action plan and makes the necessary modifications to it while ensuring the efficiency of operations.

Establishes production standards and controls quality in cooperation with the plant manager. Assesses the priority of customer orders.

Establishes and tracks performance indicators.

2. Analyzes production follow-up : Reviews and analyzes production reports, maintenance and quality reports in order to determine the causes of non-compliance with product specifications and all operating or production problems.

Determines the actions to be taken to improve operations

3. Controls operations : Makes sure that operating procedures, safety and quality plans are respected and followed. Coordinates any administrative report with the corresponding operation.

Coordinates investigations regarding accidents and related activities.

4. Ensures coaching and team development : Provides training and coaching for the members of the team to ensure that objectives are attained.

Develops technical training plans for the group concerned and sees that they are implemented. Conducts performance reviews of the team members and gives them Feedback.

5. Communicates internally : Knows how to deal with the employees effectively so as to ensure

optimal operations, giving priority to the requirements and expectations of the customers. Is attentive to the needs and concerns of other members of the team and related departments.

Transmits the information and communicates to ensure that experience is shared. Makes his knowledge and know-how available.

6. Ensures technical process improvement : Works with his team and multi-functional teams to

continuously improve work processes. Analyzes his activities, identifies causes of problems and proposes adapted corrective measures.

7. Safety / Quality : Improves and promotes occupational health and safety principles. Encourages safe behavior. Knows and respects all of the procedures provided in the ALMS (Air Liquide Management System).

Know and look at the application of the IMS Program. Do the day to day obligations into the Intellex system and into the training software (LMS).

Implements adequate corrective and preventive measures following customer claims

8. Turn Around (TAR) planning : Develop TAR shutdown and start-up plans while ensuring the site manages the production rates for planned TAR on the various plants.

9. Governance : Ensures the site adheres to the various legal and legislative requirements to sustain the license to operate.

It also entails the development of an assurance system that ensures compliance to the Air Liquide internal assurance protocols.

Education and Qualifications

  • Diploma : Power Engineering certification in Ontario 3rd class
  • Knowledge : ASU and SMR operation, TDG, WHMIS, Ontario safety regulations and procedures, Google suites
  • Experience : 4 to 10 years of operations experience, of which at least 2 years must have been managing direct reports
