Are you a seasoned MechanicalEngineer looking for an exciting opportunity to lead cuttingedgeprojects in HVAC and Plumbing design Our client is seeking a highlyskilled and motivated individual to join their dynamic team as aSenior Mechanical Engineer.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer youwill be responsible for designing mechanical HVAC and Plumbingsystems for diverse new and renovation projects.
Coordinateresources and ensure the successful completion of project designwork.
Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Description
Lead thedetailed design of various sizes of projects and delegate specifictasks or scopes to other team members.
Supervisemechanical designers and intermediate mechanicaldesigners.
Provide technical guidance to clients andother project subconsultants.
Mentor and superviseMechanical Designers Intermediate Mechanical Designers andIntermediate Mechanical Engineers and review their work prior tosubmitting to Project Managers Associates andPrincipals.
Attend design and coordination meetings asrequired.
Have a strong understanding of constructionand perform construction site reviews when required.
Preparation of schematic design and design developmentreports.
Analyze client design proposals andspecifications to determine the most appropriate and cost effectivedesign solutions.
Selection of mechanical equipmentworking with suppliers and manufacturer’srepresentatives.
Preparation of schematic design designdevelopment and construction drawings.
Preparation ofeither book or drawing mechanical specifications.
Peerreview of other colleague’s drawings anddesign.
Provide complete fully reviewed projects toProject Manager for final review.
Coordination ofmechanical systems and design with other disciplines.
Determining project design and drafting hours required to completea project and communicating the resources required to meet theproject deadlines to the Project Manager.
Identify andaddress the need for additional services and fees to the ProjectManager in a timely fashion.
Maintain project schedulesand project budgets to track work progress and manpower resourceutilization with assistance from the Project Manager.
Assist contract administration team with the review of shopdrawings responses to RFIs design changes and associatedcosts.
Strive to accomplish company goals of highqualityworkmanship and project timelines through
Continualimprovement of workflows and design standards.
Experience &Qualifications
- Degree inMechanical Engineering with a minimum of 510 years’experience as a Professional Engineer : P. Eng. in the jurisdictionin which they are working.
- Detailedunderstanding of all building systems including architecturalstructural civil electrical and fire and how they impact and areimpacted by the mechanical systems.
Ability to interpretconstruction drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of current codes andstandards such as the applicable plumbing and buildingcodes.
- Excellent written skills andunderstanding of software programs (Microsoft Word Bluebeam AutoCADREVIT etc.).
- Understanding offinancials as they apply to projects : Work backlog Work in progress(WIP) project costs vs budgets.
- Ability to schedule mentor and manage project teams of 1 to 3people on 2 or more concurrent projects depending on size andcomplexity.
