Apprentice Welders / Pipefitters; Welder's Helpers (West of Cold Lake, Alberta)
Comec is looking for apprentice Pipefitters or Welders for a boiler outage at Cenovus Foster Creek facility. Competitive rates. Travel allowance in place. 12‑hour days. 8‑hour RT and 4 hours OT per day. Camp work. starting early January.
The candidate will be required to perform a number of activities from cutting and bevel prep, working with welders, working hand in hand with other trades, work in confined spaces, working at heights, blinding, hydro testing, fit-up and working under air.
Job would be a camp position. Workers will be responsible for getting to and from camp. Bussing and transport available once on site.
- Ensure that the Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with the work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
- Ensure client satisfaction by following all client regulations / rules and always providing excellent customer service.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork. Including but not limited to fabrication documentation, maintenance records, work tickets, JSA’s hazard ID’s, daily time sheets, inspection documentation, safety procedure documentation.
- Fit up and prepares piping joints requiring for welding.
- Coordination of lifting and rigging of equipment into place with the assistance of heavy lifting equipment or by hand rigging.
- Bolt up, measure, cut, and thread piping required using hand tools.
- Select type and size of piping required.
- Hold a Valid recognized apprenticeship card within Alberta
- Valid class 5 Drivers license
- Valid H2S Alive ticket, CSTS2020, WHMIS, Confined space, Fall protection.
- Experience in SAGD facilities
- Mask fit testing for Scott and North masks as needed
