Business Development – Sales Manager

They are currently seeking a Business Development – Sales Manager to join their growing team.
Summary
Reporting to the VP of Sales & Marketing, this role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and driving revenue growth within an assigned territory.
Product Portfolio Includes :
Laser-based thickness measurement
Forging analysis solutions
Flatness and profile measurement systems
Core instrumentation and control products for metals rolling & materials processing
Applications spanning metals, automotive materials, and related industrial sectors
Territory :
A defined geographic region (domestic, international, or a combination), assigned by the VP of Sales & Marketing.
Sales Channels :
Direct sales (primarily Canada & USA) and channel / agent partners supporting end users and OEMs.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic plans to expand market presence and customer penetration.
Identify, research, and pursue new business opportunities through cold outreach, prospecting, and lead generation.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, OEMs, and industry influencers.
Collaborate with sales, marketing, engineering, and product teams to execute business strategies.
Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs; provide input for product development.
Prepare proposals, present business cases, negotiate agreements, and close deals to meet annual targets.
Assess risks and probability of success for new business pursuits, providing recommended mitigations.
Travel to customer sites, industry events, and partner locations (approximately 50% travel expected).
Visit end users and OEMs to prospect for new business.
Develop territory sales strategies in collaboration with sales leadership.
Respond to sales and technical inquiries; coordinate technical proposals and quotations.
Prepare visit reports, expense submissions, and required sales documentation.
Deliver sales forecasts as requested by the VP.
Assist in sales literature creation and prepare presentations for customers and agents.
Provide market intelligence and participate in conferences / trade shows to promote the organization.
Support additional sales-related initiatives as assigned by the VP.
Qualifications
Degree in engineering or demonstrated ability to understand and communicate technical subject matter.
Experience selling industrial equipment, materials-processing technologies, or solutions for metals / automotive manufacturing.
Familiarity with materials processing environments such as rolling, stamping, or steel processing.
Strong mechanical, electronics, and optics understanding.
Strong negotiation and financial acumen (CPA or CMA considered an asset).
Experience working with global industrial organizations is an advantage.
