ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently looking for an AML Analyst to join our Toronto-based team. As an AML Analyst, you will report to the Director of Compliance and will play an integral role in supporting PointsBet’s continued growth and success.

This role requires understanding sports betting, online casinos, and the AGCO’s Registrar’s Standards. We seek exceptional analytical skills, strong collaboration capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and competitive environment.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

  • Proactively provide compliance support and expertise to all departments.
  • Provide guidance and advice to internal and external partners regarding questions specific to compliance with anti-money laundering regulations and obligations.
  • Proactively monitor for fraud, anti-money laundering, and responsible gambling issues.
  • Assist with the development and documentation of Compliance department policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Diagnose gaps and identify opportunities for enhancement of the AML program.
  • Lead all reporting including daily, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and yearly, as well as remedial plans to address the issue(s), for incidents of non-compliance.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and risk assessments as required.
  • Perform work in the area of AML investigations including, but not limited to, customer identification, due diligence and enhanced due diligence.
  • Analyze data for potential issues and trends.
  • Support the Director of Compliance with maintaining the company’s enterprise-wide patron monitoring program which includes ongoing patron reviews and patron risk rating.
  • Support information gathering and analysis by utilizing social media and other open-source platforms following current legal requirements and industry best practices.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to assist in the development of ongoing monitoring criteria as it relates to the detection of unusual activity.
  • Use information gathered from various system sources and staff to detect patterns, trends and unusual activity to ensure that investigations are completed, and that Suspicious Transaction Reports are prepared and filed appropriately.
  • Submit applicable reports (I.e. Casino Disbursement Reports) to FINTRAC within regulatory timeframes.
  • Maintain current awareness of regulatory expectations and global industry standards with respect to gaming.

SKILLS WE SEEK

  • Bachelor level degree or relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years of compliance / legal / fraud / risk mitigation / investigations experience.
  • Knowledge of sports betting, online casinos and the AGCO’s Registrar’s Standards.
  • Understanding of money laundering techniques and how they can be used in the iGaming industry.
  • Strong work ethic and someone who is accountable, works smart, and pushes self and others for results.
  • Relates and works cooperatively with people across levels, functions, culture, and geography to help achieve shared goals.
  • Critical thinker, attentive to detail and highly organized.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and is effective in a variety of communication settings (i.e., one to one, small and large groups, and among diverse styles and position levels).
  • Comfort working with all departments to address issues as they arise.
  • Innovative and comes up with useful ideas that are new, better, or unique.
  • A self-directed learner who takes on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
