Mechanical Drafter

Our client has seen a significant lift in project demand. They have recently gone through hiring to add to the team to cover upcoming retirements but have the need for a qualified mechanical drafter / designer.

Candidates should be coming from a background where they have worked with capital projects and have experience designing for material handling.

Non negotiables include the ability to jump in and start working with AutoCAD and Inventor. Additionally, they should have working knowledge designing mechanical structures and piping.

This role will require the candidate to take basic hand sketches and convert them into AutoCAD 2d drawings / Inventor drawings.

From time to time they may need to make modifications to existing template drawings to faciliate routing of piping or new structures.

They will not need to do any calculations, this will be mainly drafting work and the onsite P.Eng will handle all the calculations.

MUST HAVES :

Mechanical Technology Diploma

5+ years of experience designing in a heavy industrial setting with steel and material handling - structural experience will be required

3+ years of experience with Steel structures

2+ years of experience with custom fabrication (equipment builds)

2+ years experience with Inventor, but 5 years of experience with total design software (Solidworks, creo, etc).

Nice to Have :

recent experience in inventor

iLogic - custom programming for modular design

Fusion manage to PLM - product life cycle

VAULT - change orders

Disqualifiers :

Candidates only coming from a consulting background

Candidates that only want to work on new design

Candidates that have no prior experience working in a heavy industrial setting
