CAD Drafter

What is the Opportunity?

Aecon is currently seeking a CAD Drafter / Calculator to join the Aecon Geomatics Team. The CAD Drafter will be responsible for providing layout information to all aspects of a construction project with a high level of accuracy, ensuring the design criteria is adhered to and well documented.

Job sites can be located in various areas such as, but not limited to; Central Ontario, GTA or Barrie.

What You’ll Do Here :

• Provide calculations to field staff
• Prepare 3D models for use in GPS and Machine Control applications
• Prepare engineering and survey plans
• Maintain accurate survey records, documentation and submittals
• Provide layout information at various stages of construction
• Calculate volumes using various software and methods
• Provide clear communication with client in a professional manner
• Maintain as-built records
• Provides back-up support for other Surveying staff
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his / her supervisor
• Performs such other duties and responsibilities depending on the type of job i.e. grading, structures, paving or rehab

What You Bring to the Team :

• Post-secondary education in Geomatics or design field
• Knowledge of survey practices and standards
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Drafting or calculator roll
• Strong computer skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft office, Autocad, Civil 3D
• Experience with Microstation and Inroads software
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret plans and CAD drawings
• Experience with paving and road infrastructure projects and asset
