We are looking for an energetic and customer‑focused General Manager to lead our Etobicoke club. The role involves overseeing club operations, delivering a judgement‑free member experience, and ensuring financial success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, train and develop a high‑performing team of Assistant Managers, Member Service Representatives, Trainers and Custodians.
- Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members and guests, ensuring staff follows superior customer service guidelines.
- Schedule staff and ensure all shifts are covered.
- Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
- Lead by example, maintain accountability for direct reports by coaching and ensuring adherence to Planet Fitness values and goals.
- Administer weekly / bi‑weekly employee payroll and perform payroll-related administration.
- Resolve employee issues or concerns; manage progressive discipline and termination as needed.
- Lead front‑desk activities : greet members, answer calls, check‑in members, handle new‑member sign‑ups, facilitate member requests, and resolve member issues.
- Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of the facility, ensuring the front desk and lobby are clean and orderly and participating in regular facility cleaning.
- Ensure safety of employees, members and club property; report equipment or facility repairs to Maintenance.
- Manage marketing efforts, approve marketing promotions, and authorize expenditures and refunds.
- Make daily bank deposits, prepare HR related forms, and send to Corporate HR and Payroll Team.
- Track statistics and reports on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
- Provide backup support for absent employees and perform any other duties required by club needs.
Qualifications / Requirements
Minimum 18 years of age; high school diploma or GED equivalent.One to three years of experience in a management role, preferably in fitness or a similar industry.Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn systems quickly.Strong leadership, team‑building, coaching and conflict‑resolution skills.Excellent customer service skills.Organizational, problem‑solving and planning skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Valid driver’s licence, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.Physical Demands
Continual standing and walking; continual talking and listening in person or on the phone; must lift up to 50 lbs and bend, crouch and reach on a daily basis; occasionally encounter toxic chemicals.
