General Description of Position
This position is responsible for the maintenance, overhaul and repair function in an aviation maintenance shop that performs component repair and maintenance for multiple stakeholders both internally and externally.
The successful candidate will possess mechanical and technical knowledge as well as customer service experience. This role is a shop-based position that may require extended work hours.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assemble and install electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories, using hand tools and power tools.
- Check manuals for revision status.
- Check for corrosion, damage and cracks in any parts associated with component overhauls.
- Conduct routine and special inspections as required by regulations.
- Follow detailed instructions.
- Complete training details as required by MPM.
- Disassemble and inspect parts using detailed visual inspections and precision measuring instruments.
- Replace or repair worn, defective or damaged components using hand tools and testing equipment.
- Disassembly, inspection, repair and assembly of failed parts.
- Clean, strip, prime and sand structural surfaces, components and materials to prepare them for overhaul.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards.
- Troubleshooting of avionics and instruments with logical and digital circuits.
- Inventory and requisition or order supplies, parts, materials as required.
- Maintain facilities and equipment as required.
Other Duties as Assigned
Other duties could include working in other areas of the department to provide support during absences or shortage of staff in other areas of the organization
Qualifications
- Must have valid Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain airside security clearance if required
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Technical knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience on some or all of the following : Bell 206 series, Bell Mediums, Airbus AS350s and MD500s
- Experience with overhaul / repair of Bell components, MD components, and A-Star components considered an asset
- Experience and knowledge of light fixed wing aircraft considered an asset
- Knowledge of aviation parts certification / traceability
- Computer experience
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel
- Able to work in a busy environment & meet deadlines
- Possess excellent organization & keen attention to detail
- Work in a team environment.
- Written skills for documentation and letter writing
- Experience with Inventory Software (Quantum Control software package preferred)
