Responsibilities
What your day will look like :
Design and Project Coordination
- Assist in the conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of new bridges, culverts, and retaining wall structures, building components, lifting and rigging components, equipment support structures, marine structures, and other non-building structural systems, the rehabilitation of existing bridges and structures under the guidance of professional engineers
- Assist or lead the analysis of existing structural components for unusual loading conditions during equipment maintenance activities
- Conduct condition assessments of various structures and structural components and prepare technical reports and recommendations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including structural, transportation, and municipal engineers, architects, electrical & mechanical engineers, transportation systems planners, land use planners, environmental scientists and technical support staff
- Assist with business development activities, including preparation of proposals, reports and presentations
- Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request

Support internal efforts to develop operational efficiencies and optimize internal design tools and approaches
Qualifications
- A degree in civil engineering with technical electives in structural engineering topics
- Eligible for registration with the PEO
Experience
- Co-op or early career experience in structural engineering will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of relevant structural engineering codes and standards
- Familiarity with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD or PCA software, as well as proficiency in current AutoCAD, Revit, Brian, and building systems software, is desirable
- Strong interpersonal, communications, organization and time management skills
- Comfort working safely in an industrial space in close proximity to heavy machinery and interacting with maintenance personnel on a routine basis
- Ability to identify, define, and solve problems from more than one perspective
- Ability to use calculation software including Microsoft Excel or Mathcad to solve basic engineering problems
- Ability to optimize problem solutions in line with the project budget and requirements to add value to engineering deliverables
