PavCo is the owner and operator of two of Canada’s premier venues for events, BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Exciting opportunity for a recent of Health and Safety graduate. Join PavCo’s team as a Health and Safety Advisor dedicated to fostering a culture where the safety of our team members, guests, and clients always come first.

The Health and Safety Advisor supports all aspects of health and safety across the organization. The Advisor provides advice and guidance as well as operational support to site leaders and team members while helping to develop, administer and maintain the organization’s safety programs.

Creating a safe work environment in line with legal standards by promoting a safety culture is crucial for this role’s success.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Advisor will also drive process improvement initiatives to continuously evolve the health and safety program to be in line with industry trends and changing regulations.

  • This role will be located at BC Place Stadium
  • General Hours - 7 : 00am to 3 : 30pm - Monday Friday. Shift times may require occasional adjustment to accommodate onsite work.
  • This is an onsite position

WHAT YOU WILL DO :

  • Provides guidance and expertise to support the integration of Health and Safety policies and programs in compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Investigates, develops and updates policies and procedures for equipment safety certification, equipment operations, safe work procedures, incident / accident reports, WHMIS, lockout, emergencies and evacuations, etc.
  • Conducts regular site inspections (safety audits) and make recommendations that eliminate or reduce risks and increase safety.

Ensure corrective actions are taken to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Works with department leads to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and rescue plans are in place where required.
  • Provides a wide range of consulting services as required by individual programs including but not limited to health and safety, lockout of systems, confined space, electrical safety, ergonomics, and personal protective equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations regarding fire plans, emergency preparedness plans, work with site resources to maintain and update records, organize and participate in planning, lead response team meetings, schedule fire drills, maintain working relationships with authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Participates in the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Conducts job hazard / risk analysis and other assessments, , ergonomics.
  • Conducts and advises on safety investigations, reporting, training requirements and process and ensure follow up actions are taken.
  • Works with the People & Culture team in identifying and coordinating the safety training needs of team members. Helps design or identify external training providers for suitable / specific programs.

Maintains training records with support from the People & Culture team.

  • Tracks, completes, maintains and analyzes safety related statistical reports.
  • Assists with evaluation of tender documents and consultant proposals and makes recommendations for approval from a health and safety perspective.
  • Coordinates safety related activities for all contractors, clients and events.Conducts spot checks with work sites to ensure compliance, including assessing safety protocol of subcontractors and their teams.
  • Evaluates and monitors industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.
  • Performs other duties as required

WHAT YOU WILL BRING :

  • 2-year Full-time Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Excellent working knowledge of BC OH&S regulations and standards.
  • Education in developing health and safety training strategies and programs.
  • Accreditation as an H&S Professional.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience in Health and Safety may be considered.
  • Knowledge of government health and safety rules and regulations for the construction industry.
  • Ability to communicate and enforce safety protocol with on-site and management level staff.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative, accountability and diligence in follow-through.
  • Collaborative, team friendly approach.
  • Organized and diligent person who can work on many projects at one time
  • Ability to prioritize and work unsupervised

The salary range for this position is $ 66,983 - $83,729

  • Offers will be in line with PavCo’s internal pay equity and qualified candidate’s experience and education.
  • Salary discussion and overall compensation package will be presented during initial phone interviews.
