Environment Control Technician
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Environmental Systems Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the installation, maintenance (repair) and calibration of all heating, cooling, humidification and ventilation microprocessor-based control and monitoring systems within the Health Sciences Centre complex, and ensures all microprocessor-based controls are functioning as designed.
The incumbent also conducts analysis and correction of direct digital control programs, as well as performing troubleshooting diagnostics on the remote computerized data gathering field panels, while maintaining a large Computerized Control and Monitoring System (CCMS).
Experience
- Five years’ extensive experience in HVAC building control systems with microprocessor-based controls required.
- Five years calibration experience within a Central Control Monitoring System (CCMS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC) environment is required.
Education (Degree / Diploma / Certificate)
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Successful completion of a recognized Certified Engineering Technologist (Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical) program recognized by CTTAM or journeyman status in a relevant trade (Electrician, Industrial Mechanic) required.
- Journeyman status as a Plumber or Refrigeration Mechanic may be considered if accompanied by work experience and / or training relevant to this position.
- Must be a technical specialist in Direct Digital Control software implementation.
- Training in RACL as well as microprocessor hardware / software systems desired.
Certification / Licensure / Registration
- Journeyperson Electrician ( H Licence) or,
- Journeyperson Power Electrician ( PE’ Licence) or,
- Limited Specialized Trade Licence ( M’ Licence) Technologist / Technician or,
- Limited Specialized Trade Licence ( M Licence) Voice Data Video required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Incumbent must be willing to improve and / or update skills as required to perform duties.
- Must be able to comprehend computerized control schematics, interpreting symbols and sequence of operation.
- Strong digital and analog skills required.
Physical Requirements
- Good physical and mental health and manual dexterity required.
- Must be able to withstand periods of strenuous activity and be able to work from ladders, scaffolding, high level platforms or in confined spaces and enclosures.
