Class Definition Job Details
- Engage students in the classroom and lab environment, ensuring learner awareness of curriculum and evaluation of learning;
- Evaluate student progress and achievement;
- Actively contribute to and care about our student success;
- Facilitate safe practice of flying skills through demonstration, observation and delivery of feedback in the aircraft or flight training device;
- Comply with all Flight Training Unit Policies and Procedures and Transport Canada regulations and standards;
- Maintain accurate records of all flight training, including the Daily Flight Log and student PTR’s;
- Provide operational oversight and control of flight operations, as directed by the Chief Flight Instructor;
- Provide supervision and guidance to flight instructors;
- When required, perform other functions or provide assistance in support of the Flight Training Unit;
- Assist, advise, coach and mentor students with course choices, career possibilities and opportunities to continue their education at the advanced degree level;
- Lead, participate in and contribute to special events, consultative committees and program and course curriculum design and revisions;
- Provide a learning environment that makes effective use of available resources based on the cooperative learning theory while incorporating a variety of teaching and learning strategies to meet various learning styles;
- Actively participate as a team member in departmental functions, initiatives and committee work;
- Work incompliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act; and

thecouncil.on.ca / ). This position involves up to 36 weeks of assigned contact per academic year and may be in any of three semesters at the College’s discretion and may include weekend work.
Candidates must possess the following :
- A valid Class 1 or 2 Flight Instructor Rating;
- A valid Category 1 Medical Certificate;
- A minimum of 500 hours of flight instruction experience;
- Group 1 or Group 3 Instrument Rating;
- College Diploma in Aviation and / or;
- Bachelor’s degree in Education and / or;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
The preferred candidate will have :
- Master’s degree in Education
- A minimum of five years experience in a leadership role relating to the aviation industry
- Experience supervising Class 4 flight instructors or other flight operation supervision experience;
- Airline Transport Pilot License with commercial operation experience;
- Float or bush type flying experience;
- Expertise and progressively responsible experience in the aviation industry, preferably in the field of education and training;
- A commitment to education equity to teach diverse student populations and work with colleagues or clients from various backgrounds;
- Previous teaching or training experience at the college, university or corporate level;
- Proven ability to excel in a team environment and a demonstrated commitment to life long learning; and
- Previous curriculum and program development experience is desirable, including innovative classroom presentation techniques.

We operate a fleet of 13 Cessna 172S aircraft (5 of which are new with G-1000NXI avionics suites) supported by 3 Frasca 172S FTD’s and 1 Frasca 142 FTD.
This sessional professor position would predominately provide flight training to our students and possibly some in-class delivery of course curriculum.
As this is a sessional appointment, work will be assigned up to 52 weeks.
