Commercial Associate

Description of the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Associate to join our dynamic team. The Commercial Associate will play a crucial role in analyzing market trends, evaluating financial data, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making within the organization.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats in the container port industry.
  • Analyze financial data, including revenue, costs, and profitability metrics, to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop financial models and forecasts to support business planning and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with commercial and finance teams to evaluate pricing strategies, customer segmentation, and market positioning.
  • Monitor competitor activity and industry developments to anticipate market changes and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, summarizing key findings and recommendations.
  • Prepare approval papers for new customer contracts and pricing.
  • Assist the Commercial Managers in the preparation of breakbulk and general cargo quotations.
  • Assist the Commercial Managers in the preparation of commercial presentations and sales and marketing materials.
  • Support the development of commercial strategies and initiatives to drive revenue growth and enhance profitability.
  • Assist in contract negotiations and pricing discussions with customers and partners.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on process improvements to extract and analyze commercial and operations data.
  • Develop and create PowerBI dashboards with the support of PSA Halifax s internal data analytics team.
  • Manage PSA Halifax s customer relationship management software (Salesforce). Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, market research, or strategic planning, preferably in the transport, container port industry or related logistics sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to create professional presentations and marketing pitch materials using PowerPoint, Canva or equivalent.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence decision-makers at all levels. Join Our Team :
