What you’ll do

  • Perform additional procedures for the majority of time; performs routine procedures in various sections of the laboratory as required, following established departmental procedures.
  • Collect specimens from inpatients and outpatients as required.
  • Perform maintenance on related equipment and reports equipment malfunctions to the Section Head.
  • Perform all clerical and written tasks associated with additional and routine procedures, and compiles statistics as required.
  • Ensure that quality control standards are met and reports problems to the Section Head as they occur.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
  • Assist with orientation of new staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you bring

Qualifications

Graduate of a recognized school of Medical Technology, plus a minimum of one years' recent, related experience. Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Certified.

  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have : Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).
