About the Role

Regent Strategics, in partnership with

Persistent Systems , is seeking an experienced

Java Developer

with exposure to

PHP frameworks . This hybrid opportunity in Toronto offers an excellent environment to work on enterprise-level applications, REST APIs, and modern backend technologies. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in Java development and a willingness to expand their skill set with PHP.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable enterprise applications using

Core Java ,

J2EE , and

Spring Framework .

Work on

Spring Boot ,

Spring MVC , and

Hibernate

projects to build efficient backend systems.

Develop and maintain

REST APIs

and integrate

GraphQL protocols

for modern API interactions.

Collaborate in a

Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)

environment.

Write clean, secure, and maintainable code following best Java coding practices.

Participate in

design discussions, code reviews , and

architecture planning .

Debug and resolve complex issues with precision and efficiency.

Understand client requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining high code quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications

6+ years

of proven experience in

Java development (Core Java, J2EE) .

Strong knowledge of the

Spring Framework , including

Spring Boot ,

Spring MVC , and

Hibernate .

1–3 years

of experience with

PHP

and its frameworks (basic knowledge with willingness to learn also acceptable).

Experience developing and consuming

RESTful APIs .

Familiarity with

GraphQL API

integrations.

Experience using

version control systems

(e.g., Git).

Understanding of

Design Patterns

and their practical implementation.

Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Commitment to

secure coding standards

and

best practices .

A proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies.
