Job Purpose

The primary role of a Network Engineer involves designing, deploying, managing, and securing our network infrastructure. This encompasses overseeing network configuration and implement necessary upgrades to enhance performance, resolving connectivity problems, and fortifying security measures to safeguard the CanDeal’s network and infrastructure.

Additionally, the Network Engineer will create comprehensive network documentation and offer technical assistance when required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • with Managed Service Providers, Architects, Security, and Engineers for Network transformation, improvements, and Proof of Concepts.
  • and implementation of networking solutions.
  • in efforts with tools / product selections and conducting proof of concepts.
  • input and comprehensive review of design documents, provide verbal and written feedback to the author.
  • network hardware and software requirements and make recommendations for upgrades or improvements.
  • and maintain comprehensive documentation related to network configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • recommendations to be considered in developing the Technology roadmap.
  • closely with Enterprise Architects, Security, and IT staff to drive company objectives.
  • best practices and standards, and drive technology portfolio management discipline.
  • adherence to standards and reference architectures for the domain.
  • clearly and effectively with architecture, project / program managers etc.

Education & Experience

  • degree in computer science, technology or related field is required.
  • years minimum experience in Network Engineering in a Managed Service Provider or similar workspace or 3+ minimum experience in a Network Engineering role in an Enterprise workspace.
  • with network and security automation preferred, i.e. Ansible, Python, Javascript, Terraform, etc.
  • experience in Data Center, Cloud and Enterprise Routing, Firewalling and Switching is required.
  • experience and understanding of IPS / IDS such as Firepower and Honeypots
  • to troubleshoot large enterprise networks.
  • to explain technical concepts, give guidance and vision about the solution.
  • knowledge of implementing and supporting multi-vendor complex Routing and Switching infrastructure.
  • knowledge of network protocols, topologies, and hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
  • with network security practices and tools.
  • in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • communication and interpersonal skills.
  • with network vendor API’s a plus.
  • with Cisco, VMware NSX, or any other SD-WAN vendor a plus.
  • with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • certifications such as CCNA, CCNP desirable / preferred or equivalent.
  • with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
  • to think technically then translate into clear verbal and written communications for technical and non-technical audiences.

Work Environment :

This is currently a hybrid position with potential travels to the datacenters when required. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office and from home with the details to be determined based on business needs.

This role requires working with a team of other network / systems engineers, Infrastructure architects, IT professionals, and potentially clients.

Work can be fast-paced and dynamic, with the need to troubleshoot and resolve network issues in a timely manner. This role requires the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and be able to adapt quickly to changing requirements.

The environment may also require to be on-call or to be available outside of normal working hours to provide supports.
