Human Rights, you will be a program and project manager, a subject matter expert, and a strategic partner who promotes a culture of safety, security and support that respects the dignity of all members of the college community.

You recognize that human rights are a dynamic set of processes that frame an approach to relationships and you will work to instill a transformative, preventative approach into Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion programming that is essential to building equitable environments.

You understand conflict as encompassing interpersonal, intergroup and intragroup conflicts, as well as behavior or conduct that conflicts with our organizational values, polices, and codes.

You will be an advisor and subject matter expert on conflict and conduct issues providing advice, consultation, and delivery of services to operationalize Respectful Community and Sexual Violence policies with specific focus on human rights, fair decision making, complaint management, and management of complex files in support of a safe, respectful, and equitable work and learning environment.

You will carry an active caseload and provide leadership and day-to-day direction to the Respectful Community Leads and the Sexual Violence and Response Lead.

You will make recommendations to the Director, Respectful Community & Human Rights, Vice President Equity and International, Director, Organizational Development, and the Associate Vice President, Student Affairs to ensure policy / procedural compliance and organizational equity, human rights and fairness are upheld.

You will work closely with colleagues in Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion, Student Affairs, Organizational Development, and other partners in the college community in relation to the Student Code of Conduct, Employee Code of Conduct, Sexual Violence Policy, and Respectful Community Policy.

QualificationsQualifications and Occupational Experience : The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary education in law (LLB or JD).

You have a mediation designation or restorative practice / alternate dispute resolution certification, or the ability to obtain certification within first six months of employment.

You have a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related occupational experience in the areas of complaint management, conflict resolution / mediation and human rights issues (conducting intake, mediation and resolution services, investigations, documentation and reporting etc.

You possess supervisory / management experience leading a team in a high volume and dynamic environment.Experience in managing and overseeing conflict resolution programs, with a strong track record of coaching, mentoring, and leading teams to effectively navigate and resolve conflicts would be an asset.

Ombudsperson experience and experience administering student behavioral policies in a post- secondary setting would be an asset.

Experience administering investigative processes and procedures would be an asset.You have specific experience in providing legal review, interpretation and advice / opinion on files that may create legal exposure or action.

You are an advocate for fairness considering the rights of all parties involved in resolution of concerns and complaints, to achieve due process and fair outcomes.

You have experience in coaching, negotiation and influencing others.You have experience in facilitating or delivering training programs / sessions.

You have program design and coordination experience in a large, complex organization.You have demonstrated strong technical proficiency with technology, including familiarity with databases, business intelligence, and the full suite of MS Office products (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
