We are developing software to streamline bookkeeping and tax preparation processes and need an experienced bookkeeping professional to serve as a subject matter expert.
You will work closely with our development team to share industry knowledge, define requirements, and ensure our software accurately reflects real-world bookkeeping needs and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert guidance on bookkeeping processes and best practices
Document detailed workflows for common bookkeeping tasks and tax preparation
Help identify pain points and opportunities for automation in current bookkeeping processes
Work with developers to define software requirements and user stories
Review software features to ensure they align with accounting principles and practices
Validate that automated processes maintain accounting accuracy and compliance
Help design user interfaces that make sense for bookkeeping professionals
Test new features from an end-user perspective
Create documentation for bookkeeping-related features
Required Experience
3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience
Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks and Sage software
Strong understanding of end-of-year tax preparation processes
Experience with both manual and automated bookkeeping processes
History of improving or optimizing bookkeeping workflows
Required Knowledge
Double-entry accounting principles
Tax preparation workflows and requirements
Financial reporting standards
Common bookkeeping software features and limitations
Industry best practices and compliance requirements
Chart of accounts organization
Bank reconciliation processes
Accounts payable and receivable workflows
Audit trail requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Bookkeeping certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper)
Experience with multiple accounting software platforms
Previous involvement in software implementation projects
Background in process improvement or workflow optimization
Experience writing technical documentation
Understanding of data migration between accounting systems
