Title: Technical Program Manager AI/ML

Location: Canada Remote
Employment Type: Contract

Job Overview

We are seeking a strategic execution-focused Technical Program Manager to lead our AI and machine learning initiatives. In this role, you will serve as the operational backbone of the AI program, partnering with business, data science, engineering, and product teams to translate business objectives into scalable solutions. The ideal candidate combines a strong technical foundation in data pipelines and model deployment with the leadership and communication skills needed to work effectively with both customers and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Strategy and Execution

  • Define structure and drive complex AI programs aligned with business goals for automation, efficiency, and growth.

AI/ML Lifecycle Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end development of AI solutions from data curation and prototyping through development and deployment.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead data scientists, AI engineers, software engineers, and data engineers to deliver integrated AI/ML features on time.

Risk Mitigation and Problem Solving

  • Identify technical, data, and adoption risks early and implement mitigation strategies such as managing data dependencies and addressing model latency.

Responsible AI and Governance

  • Champion ethical AI practices and ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and fairness standards.

Infrastructure and Tooling

  • Coordinate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure cloud readiness and effective model monitoring across platforms such as Azure, GCP, and AWS.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, clearly communicating progress, risks, and return on investment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience in technical program or project management, including at least 3 years delivering AI/ML, data science, or advanced analytics solutions.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of AI/ML methodologies, data engineering, and data science workflows.
  • Proven experience with cloud-based AI platforms such as Azure AI, AWS, or Google Cloud Vertex AI.
  • Strong familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect technical detail to business impact.

Required Certifications

Candidates must have at least two of the following certifications:

  • AI-102 Microsoft Certified Azure AI Engineer Associate
  • DP-100 Microsoft Certified Azure Data Scientist Associate
  • AI-900 Microsoft AI Fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant technical field.
  • PMP, PgMP, or Agile/Scrum certification.
  • Experience with generative AI, including large language models and agentic frameworks such as Copilot Studio, LangChain, or the OpenAI API.

Soft Skills

  • Build strong customer relationships and maintain a professional service-oriented presence.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports for internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong communication skills when leading customer calls.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills and collaborate effectively across teams.
