Job description

The Clinical Trial Delivery Trainer is responsible for developing, maintaining, coordinating, delivering, and continuously improving training programs and repositories for new and existing employees across all key functions within Clinical Trial Delivery.


The position supports the onboarding, ongoing development, and continued readiness of Clinical Trial Delivery employees, including Clinical Research Associates, Clinical Trial Managers, Project Directors, Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and other Clinical Trial Delivery roles, as applicable.


Working closely with Clinical Trial Delivery leadership, functional subject matter experts, Quality, Human Resources, and other cross-functional partners, the Clinical Trial Delivery Trainer ensures that training is consistent, practical, role appropriate, and aligned with organizational objectives, departmental priorities, applicable regulations, internal procedures, and evolving operational needs.


More specifically, the Clinical Trial Delivery Trainer will:


Training Strategy and Curriculum Development

  • Identify training and development needs across Clinical Trial Delivery in collaboration with functional leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Develop and maintain role-based training curricula, onboarding pathways, and learning plans for key Clinical Trial Delivery roles.
  • Create, update, and standardize training materials, learning resources, assessments, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure training content remains aligned with applicable regulations, company procedures, systems, and operational practices.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a sustainable and scalable training repository structure for Clinical Trial Delivery in compliance with the organization’s technical infrastructure
  • Recommend and implement new training initiatives in response to business needs, process changes, quality trends, and employee feedback.

Training Delivery

  • Deliver group and individual training programs for new and existing Clinical Trial Delivery employees.
  • Facilitate instructor-led, virtual, self-paced, and practical learning activities, as appropriate.
  • Provide training on clinical trial processes, regulations, SOPs, systems, tools, and role-specific responsibilities.
  • Deliver training on company systems, technologies, and operational processes supporting Clinical Trial Delivery.
  • Adapt training approaches to support varying levels of experience and learning needs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate refresher training when required.

Onboarding and Role Readiness

  • Support the development and execution of onboarding programs for key Clinical Trial Delivery roles.
  • Collaborate with managers and subject matter experts to define onboarding requirements and learning objectives.
  • Monitor onboarding completion and support managers in assessing employee readiness.
  • Provide guidance and support to new employees during onboarding and role transition.
  • Promote consistency in onboarding practices across functions and regions.

Coaching and Knowledge Transfer

  • Serve as a trainer, mentor, and resource for Clinical Trial Delivery employees.
  • Provide practical coaching to reinforce training and support application of knowledge in day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and dissemination of best practices across Clinical Trial Delivery functions.
  • When appropriate, participate in observational or evaluation activities to assess competency and provide targeted coaching.
  • May accompany CRAs on-site or remotely for observation and evaluation visits (e.g., Oversight Visits)

Training Governance and Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate and prioritize the daily activities of the Coordinator Trainers, ensuring efficient workload distribution and timely completion of training-related tasks.
  • Contribute to training budget planning by providing cost estimates, recommendations, and business justifications for training initiatives.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, competency evaluations, and operational quality metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve training processes, content, tools, and delivery methods.
  • Support the implementation of new processes, technologies, and organizational initiatives through structured training and change management activities.
  • Participate in the development and review of SOPs, work instructions, templates, and other controlled documents, as applicable.
  • Provide periodic updates and recommendations to Clinical Trial Delivery leadership regarding training effectiveness, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, nursing, clinical research, healthcare, education, or another relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical research within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and/or contract research organization (CRO) industry.
  • Previous experience in one or more Clinical Trial Delivery roles (e.g., Clinical Research Associate, Clinical Trial Manager, Project Manager, or other clinical operations or project delivery positions).
  • Experience delivering training, facilitating learning, coaching, mentoring, or supporting employee development; experience developing training materials, onboarding programs, or role-based learning plans is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of ICH-GCP, Health Canada, FDA, EMA, and other applicable regulatory requirements governing clinical research.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of the clinical trial lifecycle, Clinical Trial Delivery processes, and cross-functional responsibilities.
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory, operational, and technical information into practical and engaging learning experiences.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, coaching, mentoring, and communication skills, with the ability to engage learners with varying levels of experience, responsibilities, and learning styles.
  • Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Comfortable working in evolving environments and adapting to new technologies, systems, and industry practices.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in French or another language is an asset.
  • Comfortable using AI-powered tools and productivity platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar technologies) to enhance productivity, learning, and operational efficiency.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
