Swim Instructor — Part-Time | Paid Training
British Swim School of Kitchener-Waterloo
Location: Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario
Pay: $17.95 - $22 per hour

Love swimming and enjoy working with children? Join British Swim School of Kitchener-Waterloo and help students become safer, more confident swimmers. This is an opportunity to do meaningful work, stay active, and build valuable teaching and leadership skills.


No previous swim-teaching experience is required. We provide paid training in our curriculum and teaching methods.

What you’ll do


  • Teach water safety, survival skills, and swimming using the British Swim School curriculum.

  • Create fun, encouraging lessons for children with different abilities and comfort levels.

  • Help nervous swimmers build confidence and celebrate their progress.

  • Follow pool safety procedures and maintain attentive supervision during lessons.

  • Track student progress and communicate positively with parents and caregivers.

  • Assist with lesson equipment setup and cleanup.

  • Participate in training and collaborate with instructors and the deck team.

What we’re looking for


  • Ability to confidently swim at least two swimming strokes.

  • A patient, enthusiastic approach and enjoyment of working with children.

  • Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills.

  • Willingness to learn, take feedback, and follow our teaching methods.

  • Comfort being in the water throughout scheduled lessons.

  • Availability for consistent weekly shifts, including evenings and/or weekends.

Helpful, but not required


  • Lifeguard certification.

  • Previous teaching, coaching, camp, or childcare experience.

  • A competitive swimming background.

  • First Aid and CPR certification.

British Swim School takes a survival-first approach: students develop water safety and survival skills before progressing to stroke development. Our instructors help turn uncertainty into confidence, one lesson at a time.
