Duties

The Chief, Facilities Management is faced with rewarding challenges such as :

Maintenance and improvement of critical building systems (HVAC, Emergency generators, Fire Safety Systems, Potable and Waste water systems, etc.)

Team building, training, and motivating

Optimization of financial and human resources

Continuous improvement

Human resources planning and hiring

Implementation of maintenance, CMMS, and Health & safety best practices

The Correctional Service of Canada (Atlantic region) is looking for motived individuals who have a continual improvement and client service mindset to lead maintenance teams in Federal Correctional institutions.

The Maintenance Managers lead teams of supervisors, maintenance specialists and trades (plumbers, electricians, millwrights, mechanics, building technicians, Heating plant operators, etc.

in a challenging and dynamic environment with emphasis on security, health & safety and resources efficiency. Their teams provide corrective and preventive maintenance, repair and improvement services to their respective institution cluster.

The Correctional Service of Canada, Atlantic Region, is creating a pool of qualified candidates for the position of Chief, Facilities Management for future and immediate vacancies.

EDUCATION

Possession of a Provincial Trade Certification in a building trade OR an acceptable combination of

training and experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in managing the maintenance activities of a large complex correctional institution, hospital, airport, shopping mall, university);
  • Experience in managing* personnel;
  • Managing is defined as including human resources responsibilities, such as attendance, performance, overtime, and workload allocation.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

Eligibility to obtain a license as a Professional Engineer in a province or territory of Canada.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in managing contracts;
  • Experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS);

Experience working in a provincial or federal correctional institution.

Knowledge of the management of maintenance activities of a large complex.
