Mechanical Building Systems Drafter

As a Mechanical Building Systems Drafter / Technician in the engineering & design sector, you will play a key role in developing large-scale multi-residential and institutional projects. Operating out of the Belœil head office, you will collaborate directly with architectural, structural, and manufacturing teams to design high-performance mechanical building systems tailored to the unique requirements of factory-built wooden modular construction.

This central Mechanical Building Systems Drafter / Technician role requires strong proficiency in 3D modeling and technical drafting, particularly in adapting HVAC and plumbing concepts to modular manufacturing specifications. Working with industry-standard software such as Revit and AutoCAD, you will prepare technical documentation, shop drawings, and precise notes for the factory production team. Responsibilities
• Design and draft detailed mechanical building systems plans (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection).

• Interpret and adapt engineering schematics to fit modular breakdown and prefabrication requirements.

• Prepare technical notes, fiches, and production packages for factory assembly teams.

• Produce 3D BIM models and 2D working drawings using Revit and AutoCAD software

• Collaborate closely with architecture, structural engineering, procurement, and production departments.

• Support the company's technology transition by applying BIM processes within engineering & design.

• Ensure drawings comply with applicable building codes, standards, and internal quality controls.

Qualifications
• Strong technical expertise in building mechanical systems, specifically HVAC and plumbing.

• Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD and Revit (knowledge of BIM workflows).

• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills applied to modular construction methodologies.

• Excellent communication skills and strong interdepartmental collaboration ability.

• Ability to translate complex engineering designs into clear, actionable shop floor instructions.

• College diploma (DEC) in Building Mechanics, DEP in Building Drafting, or equivalent work experience.

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Building Systems Drafter / Technician in engineering & design.

• Ability to work 100% on-site at the head office located in Belœil.

• Familiarity with building code regulations and construction practices in Quebec and Ontario.
