Technical Systems and Data Platform Analyst

We are seeking a versatile Technical Systems & Data Platform Analyst for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Halifax. In this role, you will provide critical technical support and operational capacity within an evolving Data and Database Services team during an organizational transition from traditional on-premises database models toward modern cloud-based data platforms.

As a Technical Systems & Data Platform Analyst, you will bridge the gap between database administration, enterprise application support, and cloud data platforms. Operating within a dynamic environment, you will assist with the day-to-day administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments, support data integration pipelines, coordinate patching and upgrades, and contribute to cloud modernization initiatives. This position is ideal for a adaptable technical professional who thrives in hybrid environments and enjoys supporting critical operational data services.

Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day administration, operational management, monitoring, and maintenance for enterprise database, application, and data platform environments.

Support existing Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments, performing routine database maintenance, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.

Collaborate with senior technical staff to triage, resolve, and document production incidents, service requests, and operational support tickets.

Maintain data integration workflows, data movement processes, and ETL pipelines to ensure accurate data flow across systems.

Support enterprise application patching, version upgrades, system maintenance, and backend environment configuration activities.

Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting across complex systems spanning databases, applications, Linux OS, Tomcat, and cloud infrastructure components.

Contribute to system documentation, technical knowledge transfer, operational runbooks, and process improvement initiatives.

Assist with technology modernization activities, including hybrid cloud migrations and modern data platform enablement projects.

Work closely with technical and business stakeholders to resolve service delivery issues and maintain overall database platform reliability.

Qualifications
Core Technical & Database Requirements
Database Platform Experience: Practical experience supporting Oracle database environments alongside working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server or relational database platforms.

Database Administration & Maintenance: Proven ability to execute routine database administration, performance troubleshooting, backup, recovery, and monitoring tasks.

Enterprise Application & Systems Support: Practical experience supporting enterprise applications, backend databases, Linux operating systems, and Tomcat application servers.

Data Integration & ETL: Practical experience working with data integration processes, ETL data pipelines, and data movement workflows.

Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure: Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, cloud data platforms (Azure Data Services, Microsoft Fabric, or similar), and hybrid on-premises/cloud environments.

Technical & Professional Skills
Analytical Troubleshooting: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to isolate and resolve issues across complex multi-tier systems.

Documentation & Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience authoring technical documentation and operational procedures.

Adaptability & Collaboration: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently, adapt to shifting priorities, and support a broad range of technical responsibilities.
