Overview

Join Our HR Team as an HR Advisor!

Are you an HR professional who enjoys supporting leaders, navigating employee relations, and helping create consistent and positive workplace practices? As an HR Advisor with CarePartners, you’ll provide HR support to leaders and employees across Ontario, with a focus on employee and labour relations, performance management, workplace investigations, leaves and return-to-work support, and grievance administration. Reporting to an HR Business Partner, you’ll have the opportunity to build strong relationships, provide practical HR guidance, and contribute to a collaborative HR team supporting a diverse, multi-site organization.


This is a full time position.

This position would have in-office requirements 1-2 days per week.

What The Role Involves

Employee and Labour Relations

  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on Level 1 employee relations matters, including attendance concerns, minor conduct issues, workplace expectations, and policy interpretation.
  • Interpret and communicate HR policies, procedures, and workplace expectations to managers and employees.
  • Review employee relations issues and recommend appropriate courses of action in alignment with organizational policies, collective agreements (where applicable), and employment legislation.
  • Support leaders in addressing workplace concerns through coaching, documentation, and consistent application of HR practices.
  • Support leaders in managing attendance-related issues, including reviewing attendance trends, preparing documentation, and recommending appropriate corrective or supportive measures in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Provide advice and administrative support related to employee leaves, including non-occupational illness and injury absences, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, policies, and CarePartners practices.
  • Coordinate and support non-occupational return-to-work (RTW) planning by facilitating communication between employees and leaders, documenting accommodation requirements, monitoring progress, and supporting successful workplace reintegration.
  • Track employee relations matters to ensure timely follow-up, resolution, and documentation.
  • Support grievance administration and preparation by compiling documentation, gathering relevant information, and maintaining grievance files.
  • Assist with timeline management and tracking key grievance milestones and deadlines.
  • Organize and maintain grievance-related records to support labour relations processes and proceedings.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and leaders to ensure accurate and timely preparation of grievance materials.
  • Coordinate, maintain, and audit employee relations documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain organized case files for employee relations, investigations, performance management, and grievance matters.
  • Monitor and track employee relations cases and action items to ensure timely resolution and appropriate follow-up.
  • Prepare reports, letters, case summaries, and documentation as required.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with applicable employment legislation, workplace policies, collective agreements, and CarePartners expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and documentation practices to enhance consistency and efficiency.
  • Support with the preparation, presentation and delivery of HR related training sessions, in person and virtual.

Performance Management

  • Support the administration and continuous execution of performance management processes across the organization.
  • Monitor performance review cycles and ensure managers complete annual and interim performance reviews within established timelines.
  • Track employee probationary periods and proactively notify managers of upcoming probation review requirements and deadlines.
  • Follow up with managers regarding overdue performance evaluations and probationary assessments to promote compliance and accountability.
  • Prepare and review performance-related documentation.
  • Partner with managers to ensure performance concerns are addressed consistently, fairly, and in accordance with CarePartners standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting related to performance reviews, probationary reviews, and performance management activities.
  • Generate regular reports and metrics on completion rates, outstanding reviews, and performance management trends for HR leadership.

Workplace Investigations

  • Assist with workplace investigations by conducting intake discussions, gathering relevant information, and reviewing supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate investigation activities, including scheduling meetings, collecting statements, and organizing case files.
  • Maintain confidential investigation records and assist in preparing summaries and documentation for review by HR Business Partners and leadership.
  • Ensure investigation processes are administered efficiently and in accordance with organizational policies and legislative requirements.

What You Bring

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field required.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or working toward completion is considered an asset.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in HR required.
  • Experience supporting workplace investigations and grievance administration is preferred
  • Experience in large, multi-site unionized environments is considered an asset
  • High personal integrity, and a commitment to doing the right thing.
  • Strong and well-demonstrated customer service mindset, with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, relationship and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks and priorities, strong project management skills an asset.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and collective agreement language where applicable.
  • Excellent documentation, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter, able to work effectively independently and as a part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to learn and grow, and embrace/cultivate new ideas and ways of working.
  • Solid computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail.
